CoRK North, Studio H
Multi-faceted artist Barbara Colaciello began her career as the Advertising Director of Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine at The Factory in New York City. Over the years, she has worked extensively as an actress, director, playwright, educator and narrative coach.
Her company Improv to the Rescue specializes in experiential and creative learning to enhance communication skills, develop storytellers and encourage collaboration through workshops, classes and coaching. A 2013 TEDxJacksonville Speaker, Barbara was voted Best Actor by Folio Weekly’s 2016 Best of Jax readership.
For over two decades, Barbara has written, directed, produced, and performed socially engaged theater that contributes to vital conversations in the Jacksonville community. Through the practice of storytelling, she engages performers and audiences in examining complex themes in much more nuanced ways than our local and national discourses often allow. She now has a home for her work at CoRk Arts District.
Barbara’s studio is called BABS’LAB. BABS'LAB is a space for creating in the NOW. It's a place for experimentation, training, and performance, a place where the community comes together to witness work that uplifts, breaks barriers, and crosses lines.
"What happens at BABS'LAB reflects who I am as an artist. I believe there's nothing more powerful than being in the present moment with one another, our minds and hearts open, actively listening and sharing. I offer this experience to our community at BABS’LAB."
