CoRK EAST, STUDIO 11
My art represents convergence of Western structure and Eastern philosophy.
As a young artist I studied Japanese Suiboku painting at the Nippon Club in New York with a renowned Japanese teacher, Hozan Matsumoto. Through this extremely disciplined Zen exercise I first absorbed the meaning and power of a beautiful brush stroke depicting the natural growth of plant life, its rhythm and poetic nature. After many years of classic western art training and abstract painting I transformed this early influence and incorporated it into my own language of expression.
I have had exhibitions in New York and Florida. I had recent exhibitions throughout Jacksonville, including the Haskell Gallery, the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach, and I am currently exhibiting at Fairfax Gallery. In 2011 I was accepted into the All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition in the Boca Raton Museum of art and have been recently featured in Arbus Magazine and Folio. My works were sold and displayed in private collections nationwide. Steve Jobs said,
And keep it playful."
Natural simplicity of form and motion animates my works on display today.
